I have an 82 heritage but really like the look of the xs-1 shock mikes has for sale. How difficult/is it possible to make that work on a later model bike ?
You can take the spring covers off your originals to get that look but, honestly, original shocks are junk. The replacements from Mike's aren't very good either. If you want an original looking, good working shock, consider Hagons or the PS series 14s.
I think Hagon makes that style as well. I scrounge the aluminum alloy spring covers from old '70s BMW shocks and put them on my aftermarket shocks, springs too .....
