    Great man! Im glad you got it figured out! Dont forget to readjust your valves after messing with the tension on the chain... it can alter it slightly.

    While being an avid xs650'er im also pretty big into my turbo subarus. I have a wideband o2 setup that I use for tuning. I was wondering if anyone on here has used a wideband setup on their xs to set up carbs? I was thinking I could weld o2 bungs on my exhaust and then plug them once Im done...

    racing idle only when hot

    Definitely a vacuum leak its very common to have this issue when the engine is hot. Check intake boots/vacuum barbs if you have them for cracking and spray some carb cleaner around anything that can leak vacuum and listen for a change in idle.

    Too much air will cause the motor to race at idle. If you havnt fiddled with anything else other than the carbs then I would start checking for air leaks around the intake boots/barbs if you have them.
