    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

Thanks, Mailman! I initially wanted the wheels and hubs polished, however following tens of hours of failing to achieve this myself, followed by a quote of £450 to have the work done professionally(!), I decided to go the black PC route. I'm really pleased with the result 🙂

    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

Evening, All, from an uncharacteristically roasting hot Scotland. Just a quick update here. Since last time, I've had my wheels rebuilt with stainless spokes further to having them powder coated gloss black, along with the hubs. I've also finished de-tabbing my frame of extraneous brackets etc...

    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

Evening, gents. Some more progress today while the wife is away on a hen-do. I got some parts back from powder coating today, and the lad has done a lovely job. He's a biker himself with a penchant for classics, so he gets it. Great finish, and all parts appropriately masked as requested. A...

    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

Hello again, fellas. It's been a while since I've updated anything, however I've been doing lots of reading and making a fair bit of progress (with the odd two steps backwards for one forwards). I've changed the thread title to make this my build thread as I couldn't be arsed starting a new...

My first ever dive into "engine work"... Looking for some advice from the cavalry

Good evening, All. First to my first ever thread on this page a few weeks ago, I've got the engine out of the frame and up on to my work bench. I did it solo, and it was up there with some of my dumbest moments. I think I nearly passed out while lifting it from the floor up on to the bench :)...

    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

Further great advice from you all above, thank you. I'll keep an eye out for an NOS pushrod. A bit more progress this morning. I got my bits and bobs back from the powder coater on Friday, lovely job. I had the disc carrier coated gloss black, drilled the rotor to assist with water dispersion...

    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

5Twins, are you man or machine?! I'm pretty new here, but already I'm aware that you are a living XS650 encyclopedia (and probably encyclopedic about many other things, too)! Thank you for this excellent advice, and the detailed photographs. It's very timeous, too, as I am about to rebuild my...

    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

That's a cracker, Kevin. I'm loving my build so much that I'm already thinking of buying another XS650 once this cafe project is 'finished' (hmm...) to undertake a tracker build. I love the style.

    1976 XS650C Café Racer Build

Thanks, man. Certainly in the dozens of threads I've read through the community seems second to none - it's a pleasure to be paid up here, as it were. I'm loving working on my XS, I just wish I could spend more time on it. Alas, work is needed to pay for the build! The 500 miles I did on it...
