What have you done to your XS today?

Still working the front end. Finished painting and polishing, and clear coating the front disk, sanded, polished, and clear coated 50 years of nicks and scratches off the throttle side fork tube, and got the clutch side out of the triple tree. It is coming along nicely. Got to get this bike...

Did you prime the master cylinder? Good explanation here: https://cbrforum.com/forum/how-mechanical-40/how-bleeding-your-brakes-prime-master-cylinder-104677/

    A Long & Winding Road-A Lifetime With My 72 XS2

I’ve been busy, and happy with the progress. Wheel true, Speedo buffed and clear coated, brake rotor polished and painted but still need to clear coat. That turned out nicer then I thought it would.

    73 rim on XS2?

What are you looking to get out of it?

    73 rim on XS2?

I actually only need the hub and disk. I have an extra rear hub and I was thinking about building a set of aluminum wheels.

    73 rim on XS2?

Do you want to sell that wheel?

    73 rim on XS2?

Yes it is a full floating disk. I have both 72 and what I think is a 73 hub. Yes that’s what I have. I was under the impression I bought a 73 front end due to the color of the headlight brackets. Only the 73 was blue wasn't it? I wonder if there was a break mid production year. The two hubs I...

    73 rim on XS2?

Comparing the hub I have from the wrecked wheel from my 72 vs. the 73 shows virtually no difference. I still have the fork bottoms... I will have to take a look.

Yes it’s Harbor Freight. No it is not perfect. Does it do the job? You’re darn right it does. Would I buy it again for just under $70 bucks? In a heartbeat! Will I use it more than 3 times before I’m to old old to know what it’s used for? I doubt it!

    73 rim on XS2?

I know this is an old post... It looks like you have a 74 or later wheel. I have a 73 on my 72. I am 99% certain because I bought a front clip with blue headlight ears on it. That should have made it a 73 going by the color.

    A Long & Winding Road-A Lifetime With My 72 XS2

Back in the day I geared for the hole-shot. Ran a Barnet Clutch and springs for the quick lockup. This bike will rarely see anything other then the country roads around my house. Long distance or highway will be on a trailer. I have taken it up north to the tunnel of trees. M119 on the trailer a...

I think it was still 70. The stories I have about tickets on this bike are... another story;-) Turns out the national 55 speed limit was 74 -87

    A Long & Winding Road-A Lifetime With My 72 XS2

I took my first solo road trip on this bike back in the summer of 83 or 84. I road from Detroit to Front Royal Va. It was a long, long, long ride. I pulled off the turnpike in Breezewood Pa. dead tired, and looking for a motel. I found the Breezewood Motel just off the turnpike. Not only was it...

Second coat of Protecta Clear on the hub and wheel weights. At first I was fumbling with each individual weight… then a little light dimly lit… I have also been sanding out all casting seams on all parts. Covers, float bowls, and wheel hubs.

I am wondering the same. I am putting 2 coats on everything. You can't even tell it is on most of it.
