I need some ideas for how to finish my gas tank and back. Kinda want just Yamaha On the sides but also want it to just look like a bad ass flat tracking bike. Maybe like how we do the moto bikes with sponsors down the back fender area? Idk just curious if people could post some pics of different ways they’ve done theirs.

Hello Kyle.
Nice looking tracker.
Well done with the color scheme!
Did you do the build and if so did you document it in a build thread? I think it would be interesting.
I really cant help you with your question on completing the scheme with graphics.
I can only suggest googling tracker style bikes (no need to limit yourself to xs650s) hit the image tab and check out the examples.
Congratulations on your bike.
Good luck in your search.

You have to put a heat shield on the exhausts, maybe that could be made into something that stands out againt the black with some lettering on it to go with any graphics.

Good to see you have most of those problems sorted out. Won't be long now. How do you find the MikesXS ignition

I did the build myself. Purchased the bike in a box basically, engine separate, just a frame and a box of parts. I’ve been around motorcycles since a kid, raced dirt bikes forever and always had a lot of common sense and ability to learn. I’ll try and post a thread on the build when i get done!

I mean i don’t have that much experience with anything else as far as ignitions, this is a new bike unfamiliar to me and i changed the ignition first thing with the Pma install. But it seems to be pretty straight forward and easy to adjust. I am one of those guys who has no idea what he’s doing but figured everything out haha i don’t know it’s a gift i guess or i just get lucky. I know the basics gas, spark, compression air. That’s what i learned as a kid. I like to learn as much as i can on here but really i only learn the hard way, doing stuff wrong and being corrected 🤷🏼‍♂️

When I first bought my ‘77 it had black vinyl lettering stuck on a white tank, I went to this website,

https://lettering.com/vinyl-lettering/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpP_4r9b29gIV4wl9Ch2tlAI1EAAYASAAEgJca_D_BwE

and you can custom design your own vinyl lettering in hundreds of different styles and colors, with or without borders, shadow effects, etc. They were easy to apply and an affordable option and they held up very well too.
Here are some before and after,

Ebay also sells 3D stick on embkems in a variety of size and colors, this is one on my black tank,

but they come in all kinds of styles, just search 3D Yamaha emblems and whatever color you like
