Thanks, for your time. Really appreciated, my MECH passed away a few years ago. I've been doing my own work since.
I always did before, but four kids the wife's and my rig made me outsource.
A little new info and history.
My bro bought it from a not so reputable lot, after the neighbors' tree fell on his car. He needed wheels fast.
So, at an average of $7000 used, private sale.
He went to Coke head Joe instead. betting $3000 for the Elantra. My bro got pissed about the light and had him do a timing belt,
supposedly he did and then, again the dreaded light. Dave, cause Dave's his name, (Dave's not here man.) Salt of the Earth.
Sidebar (I'll let an acquaintance know I own a shovel, and I'll let and friend help me dig a hole.
But only a brother's allowed to help me fill it.) Absolute trust!
So he put in a crank pos sensor in. No joy, and he was off to the races. He chased every code and replaced every sensor that came up.
Full exhaust including Manifold, CATS mufflers, even put tires on it. He got so hot with it he shoved it in a corner of the yard and went out and bought another car.
First time I ever saw Dave Fu it. Since I.ve had it a new A arm and struts. looks like the PO did the left side but not the right.
That woke me up when it failed.
Wifey in the car at about 45 downhill, snap! Ye Ha!
I'll replace the left in warmer weather, just because bought the set.
So now it looks like I need to check timing marks and see if this DH Joe did it right.
QUESTION? Time is really of a concern. Electric or timing?
Yeah timing. Talking to myself again.
On the other hand, 50°+ Saturday??? Car or ride???
Damn it!!! Winter's almost over, what's it cost for heated grips?
Ok, all FN around I'll run it as is, and get codes and then check timing,
Oh by the way my Haynes manual sucks! Worst most non informative worthless POS I've ever got from them!
Another day.
