1973 TX650 big bore kit? Or just freshing up things

Funny a friend of mine was making fun of me for clutching my Indian. It just seems wrong not to clutch it. Race cars are built with straight cut gears for that reason. And in turn they won’t shift with out lifting the throttle. I’m not sure but I don’t think most motorcycles have that kind of...

1973 TX650 big bore kit? Or just freshing up things

Here’s a photo of my proje. I’m pretty happy with the way it rides other than kicking out of 3 gear. I didn’t know any history why the bike was parked along time. So I gambled and spent the money on everything els. I know now why it was parked.

1973 TX650 big bore kit? Or just freshing up things

Thanks for the response. Quess I need to find a newer engine then have fun with it!! As much as it pains me to just fix the gearbox. That’s what I have to do. Then start finding parts for new engine. I do have a bunch of take off parts for this moto. Like alternator starter compression release...

1973 TX650 big bore kit? Or just freshing up things

Hello everyone hope everything is going good staying warm at least. I have a 1973TX 650 that needs a third gear so I have to split the case When I have the case apart. I thought I’d freshen things up. I don’t see a big bore kit. Or any rebuild kits. On any of the usual sites selling XS parts I...

    Popping out of 3rd gear

Hello everyone. MY 1973 TX650 is popping out of 3rd gear. it seams fine in all the other gears. SOOO I'm assuming the dogs on the gear are damaged. IS there something else that might cause it? Like a shaft out of alignment or something wacky like that.. Thanks for your input.

    New Build. 73 Tx650

Thanks for everybody’s positive comments. Much appreciated. Had the bike Dyno tuned. The clutch was slipping I pinched one of the rubber clutch spacers when assembling the clutch pack now I’m deciding if I should take the rubber spacers off and try to run it without them or make it a 8 disk clutch.

    New Build. 73 Tx650

It’s taken me awhile but finally got this little bike going. I created just about everything hardtail, pedals, brake bracket, etc. I didn’t want to have a purchased bike so to speak. The keg is my fuse box. There’s a pma charging system with a xscharge ignition. I didn’t rebuild the engine till...
