    Hand "twist" controls

Seems that the brake controls would be no good as you couldn't throttle and brake at the same time.

size nut front drive chain sprocket?

Before you buy that socket, you might check to see if your local Auto Zone has one in their "Loaner Tools". 36mm is a pretty commonn automotive hub/axle nut size.

It's hard to lose when you get a TD 5 out of the first 4 times you get the ball. That was a hard game to watch. I just hope you do the same to the Chargers.

    For Sale - 1979 XS400 Special donor bike - $250

Technically not ironic. If you had sold the tank for $175 then bought this bike and discovered it had your old tank on it and THEN had to scrap it for $20. THAT would be irony. Sorry, I'm a dick. I know.

    tappet cover studs

This may seem "duh" simple to some folks, but I just figured it out. I had my valve covers off to adjust my valves, and discovered that the PO had replaced some of the cover studs with bolts. I put them back on not thinking anything was wrong with that. I went to tighten the last cap nut and it...

Chrome? Oooooh. You mean garage floor glitter. Also known as sparkly stuff I can't get off my fingers...unless I put them in my eye.

    Valve cover casting marks "1" & "2"

There is a tiny "1" stamped on the inside of 2 of my valve covers. There is a tiny "2" on the other 2. I assume they would be for cylinder 1 and 2, but that's not how they came off. Is there any difference? Any reason they should go back on a particular way?
