    Safety relay question

Thanks for all the replies. One more question I hope you guys can answer is about the starter button switch. My local electronics specialist shop has two models that can be fitted with a waterproof cap. They have this small one (photo left), which is rated upto 3 amp. The one on the right is a...

    Safety relay question

Below is a diagram from my manual. It's in dutch, so here's a little bit translation: veiligheidsrelais = safety relay, startrelais = start relay and startschakelaar = starter button switch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the starter button is not a ground switch in this case.

    Safety relay question

Thank you all for your replies. I thought about not running a safety relay at all. But I want to install a hidden starter button like the one on the photo below. My main concern is when this switch is defective there could be a permanent working starter motor. This happened once on an old Moto...

Wear limit rear drum brake etc.

So I did some searching on this forum, but I didn't quite find the answer. I bought a used 18 inch rear wheel. It's in a very bad state, but I only need the hub to make a 16 inch, 36 spoke wheel. I removed the seals, bearings and bushings. They were all pretty rusted. I cleaned the hub and put...

    Safety relay question

Hi there, Been a long time since I've been here, time flies... So I have a question about the safety relay. I have a XS650 chopperish thing that has a very simplified wiring harness. When I bought the bike it was already in this state so I don't have any spare parts. The bike is kick only and I...

leaking issues bs38's, man what a pain!

I hope I find some time tonight to work on the carbs again. On my to do list is sanding the sealing surface of the bowls. Just a good clean up with fine paper. The viton needles are going out and new bs38's ones go in along with new seats. Sadly the old floats are beyond repair. So I replaced...

leaking issues bs38's, man what a pain!

Thanks guys, @gggGary I will try that, wet sanding with some 2000 paper. You're right about that. I forgot to mention that the original floats were leaking, so I replaced them. I tested the new ones first, just to be sure:) Yeah I know, in an old post on this forum I read that you can use...

leaking issues bs38's, man what a pain!

Thanks peanut, I read the carb guide front to back and then again, it's very usefull. I always clean carbs with an ultrasonic cleaner and compressed air. So there's no doubt everything is clean. You say that the fuel needle jets are letting by, but if that's the case the level in the clear tube...

leaking issues bs38's, man what a pain!

Hi there, So I recently bought a 1970 xs650 cafe racer. It has a 1977 engine with 1976 carbs. It has been sitting for a while so I'm doing some minor work on it to get it going. The carbs where the first things on the list. They were leaking fuel. I cleaned them in a ultrasonic machine, cleaned...

    mikuni BS38 identification

I think you might be right. I compared the carbs with kz750 carbs on internet and they look the same. They were also bs38's so it seems. The float valve looks the same as the ones in my carbs. I'm gonna have a try with these. At least now I know what parts to order. Well thats just another piece...

    mikuni BS38 identification

Thanks man. I knew something was not right. The engine ran when I bought the bike. So I think it's worth a try. Tx750 used z4 jets. But I'm not sure these are from a tx750.

    mikuni BS38 identification

Hi, I'm new on this forum. I looked already many times, because it's a good source of information. But now I have a question that I can't find in the archives, so here it is. I'm building a xs650 chop and I'm almost finished, but there are some last hurdles to take. I'm having issues with the...
