    Hydraulic Clutch

Hey Guys, just fitted a Honda CBR1000 Clutch slave cylinder to my casing - all gone well, with correct allignment etc I'm using the Honda Clutch pushrod, as it has the rounded end for the slave cylinder. I need some views on how much play I should leave with the cylinder at rest, I was think...

    DIY Reg/Rec. 5twins and Jim

Here you go: https://www.xs650.com/threads/fitting-a-yamaha-xs750-front-end.62158/ Depressing to see it was over a year ago and the bike is still not on the road, but major health issue and carer duties got in the way - will have it completed before end of summer 🏍️ !

    DIY Reg/Rec. 5twins and Jim

Found a UK/Europe supplier for the type A Regulator via the compatible OEM number 64808140 Can this thread be added to the tech section please? (maybe add my installing XS750 front end thread from last year at the same time ;)) Thanks Guys Barrie...

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

If your not on it already, be worth joining Yamaha XS650 UK Owners on facebook - no Gurus on there like Gary and the rest, but worth following 👍

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

Ah, confusion all around, no probs. Unfortunately at the minute i'm stuck in the house NOT the garage, so have been going deep into this subject and ended up being a bit of a nerd (do you have nerds in Sweden?) Thanks for your input Jan, reckon I've got the info. I need now (just not the parts...

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

Hi, the link you sent is not really relevant as all the diagrams relate to Permanent Magnet Alternators, so there are no brushes as in "our" Electro Mechanical Alternators (think that's best way to describe them) I have done the research on the forum via Gary's link and there is a suitable...

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

No problem, just trying to help ;) Garys right, you have to look at all the components in the order he suggested, otherwise you will end up in circles. Try this link to the TECH section under the main menu, always a good place to start...

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

Hi, you might not get a response, adding onto my original thread, as its not the same issue or question. (XS1B is the earlier type B Alternator) Best bet is to follow Gary's link above to read up on the options. Then probably start a new thread with any issues or questions Hope that helps Barrie

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

I had a good read of the thread, and only part I was unsure of is with the replacement 2 wire Regulator (Ground through body type) how can you tell it has the correct "when the voltage gets high, cuts off the Ground to the Rotor" characteristics? I can only think, you need to find the vehicle...

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

Thanks Gary, while i'm stuck in the house at the moment, I tested out the unit and started delving deep into the subject, so I can have everything ready. Just had a look at XJ650 and XJ750seca wiring diagrams (probably had a different name in the USA) Was surprised to find a non PMA charging...

Regulator Rectifier - can a later Yam model be used?

Guys, thought I would come to the guru's for a definitive answer on this one! My combined Reg/Rec is testing faulty on the diodes, so I thought I would ask on our UK facebook Forum if anyone new of a replacement that would work, that did not cost near a £100 Been advised that later model...

    Converting earlier Stator to TCI

Thanks Guys, main reason for fitting the later brush holder, is all I have on my good stator is a pair of wires - with original ring terminals attached :( Good call with the screw length!

    Converting earlier Stator to TCI

Not in the UK 5twins, parts are not so easily available, I think the people converting to PMA are hanging on to the spares and you have the issue of IF the windings are any good, Should not be a problem positioning the TCI pick-ups thanks to the Gonzo project ;) I have to go back to my original...

    Converting earlier Stator to TCI

Quick question Guys, Looking to install the later Brush Holder - seems easiest way and reasonably easy to drill and shape. However this does leave one of the wires slightly short - before I start tugging on wires, has anyone had success pulling slack past the windings on the brush wires? My...

Gonzo Project. Pick up wires: only 2 used?

Guys, I'm finally at the "getting a spark" stage of my build. I've got a suspect original TCI Box that I could not get to function on my test bed so I've picked up a couple of GN250 boxes and just sorting out the temp wiring set up this weekend. Am I right that only the Black "Ground" and Orange...

    Ignition Questions

Hi Raymond, My plan was to get as much oil in the pump/oilways/head as practical before turning over already have assembly grease on the cams and followers. My main concern is splash feed (never liked the idea) for the Bores/Pistons etc. If anyone can confirm if I can use the TDI coils for the...
