XS750 Triple Clamp in XS2 Steering Head?

I'm looking to see if I can get some sort of triple clamp that will accept 36mm forks. I'm not worried about machining or welding, easy stuff. However I've stumbled across a thread indicating the XS750 triple clamp might be a direct swap into my XS2. Anyone have the details on this?

    Learn Me Forks

Well I just bought those fork tubes, we'll see how they fit. if they don't fit, I may just shorten the ones I have on the bike. my lathe doesn't have metric thread pitches though, so I'd likely have to turn some new caps as well.

Its growing on me the more I look at these pics but the cost and time factor is beyond what I can reasonably sink...

    New Owner, and Clueless

Oh man, you don't know the half of it! He was a hoarder of industrial equipment and random junk. Would you believe me if I said that was the cleanest I've seen that garage in my entire life? There is a horizontal jig boring machine in the carport we have no idea how to get rid of. 7 tons of...

    New Owner, and Clueless

    New Owner, and Clueless

So I inherited a 1972 XS2 from my Grandfather. I literally just got back from setting eyes on the bike for the first time in 10 years. Its in remarkable condition all things considered, its been stored inside since parked, but it looks like it spent the first 10 years of its life outside. I know...
