What is the best way to clean up/polish the engine side covers? Is there a recommended process or cleaner I should use? The bike has been sitting a while and I just don't want to do something to screw the metal up. Thanks !!

I have 2 rear rims off a 77 standard. ( I don't know what other years they will fit). $50.00 each. I didn't try and clean them up. There are scratches and some dings, etc... I am in New Jersey and I know shipping for these can get expensive. Thanks Here's a link to the pics...
