1979 650 special, the bike just died. It is getting power to the points but the camshaft is not turning when I crank the motor. I can grab the nut on the end and turn it by hand. Does this mean the cam chain is broken, and how hard is it to change?

My nose was mistaken, i have power to the points. The camshaft isn't turning when i crank the motor. This can't be good, I can grab the nut on the end and turn the camshaft by hand.

Thank You for all the input. When I turn the key on and touch the starter the red idiot light comes on, when I turn the kill switch to off the light goes off. Hopefully that means the switch is ok, and the fuse block is also ok. I will check the point cam, and run a jumper to the coil.

Is it normal for both coils to go at the same time, I don't have spark on either side.

Are there any hidden fuses I may have overlooked?

I need a set of carbs for a 1979 yamaha 650 special.

I got frustrated and put the jets and needle position back to stock. Synced the carbs and it still wasn't right. I changed the pilot only 27.5 to 30, after the initial run I think it is 90% there. :)

I forgot to mention the popping stopped after I changed the jets.
