1979 650 special, the bike just died. It is getting power to the points but the camshaft is not turning when I crank the motor. I can grab the nut on the end and turn it by hand. Does this mean the cam chain is broken, and how hard is it to change?

Should there be oil under the points cover, on a 79 650 special. It is not a lot of oil it looks like weeping and settled in the bottom of the cover.

What is the correct wrench to adjust shocks? I have ordered two different wrenches neither one work:banghead: It might be operator error:( I have used a pipe wrench, but that is ugly.

The previous owner of my 79 yamaha 650 special put on 2 into 1 pipes. Now that I got the pipes to seal, they are turning blue and it does a rumble backfire when I decelerate. Plugs are light colored, should I change the jets? One size up? Thanks for any help.:shrug:

Has anyone painted their exhaust pipes? My 2 into 1 pipes are starting to rust in between the pipes. Should i sandblast a paint. How hot do pipes get.

Is it a obvious procedure? Remove screws, remove nut, slide clutch off shaft? Or is it pressed on, or a reverse thread. I have a manual ordered but it has not come yet. I am trying to get to the starter spring clip. Thanks for any help/ advice.
