I make things, largely of wood, and some metal as well. Mostly turned and carved vessels. I travel the world teaching, and have work in 25 or so museums, seven pieces in the Smithsonian American Museum of Art. Its kept me from working for anyone for almost 30 years.
Going next week to work with a group of some of the best blacksmith/artist/woodturners/carvers and sculptors/ A whole week of making, eating, learning in the mountains of NC.
More of a music fan (and live music) these days, but used to play a lot before we had kids. Guitar, dobro (another one
) and pretty good harmonica player. These days we mostly cheer on our son, who is almost finished with his doctorate in music performance-percussion. Specializes in marimba,xylophone/vibes, and timpani. He also teaches and writes a lot of marching, drum and bugle corp stuff, and plays in a salsa band some.
