grease seal or not?

im replacing the neck bearings on my 73 with tapered ones from mikes. do i have to use a grease seal or not?

i don't know if you have to, but i did - mine was still in pretty good shape

If you want the bearing to last, yes a grease seal is a good idea.
It keeps the grease in and the water out.

im concerned with the clearance from bottom of neck to top ef lower yoke. will it cause problems?

No, it fits in the gap between the bearing and lower tree.
