hey guys, I have a honda reg rec from an 80's honda.....it has all the same wires except one it has the three yellows, a red, green, and black, can i run this on my xs , if so do i use the green and the black back to the rotor? thanks
search the forum, there are instructions on replacement regulators and you can make your own rectifier. together is costs around $20-35, depending on the year
That sounds like a reg/rec for a permanent magnet alternator. Yellow to stator, red to battery, green to ground, black to ignition switch. You could run that on your XS but you would have to hotwire the rotor so the field is running full power all the time. That will suck up a lot of power, cause things to get hot, and drastically shorten whatever life may be left in the old parts.
