Steering stops

Hey one of the several issues that has come up with swapping the front end on my bike is that the steering stops don't line up anymore. I am going to be using the KHN dampener that Mikes sells. The dampener by design has a limited travel, any reason that I need stops?

- technically theyre there to stop the forks from going right round and smashing into the tank-like on a bicycle, theyre handy too when manually moving or pushing your bike-but then we never really plan on doing that...in practice theyre often ground down, off or reshaped when changing the forks

When changing front ends we perfer the internal stops ,thats a clean look.
