I got a XJ650 1982 that I have just put $500.00 in the bike for a guy and he needs to sell it.
Did CARBS / New AIR filters / New Battery / Wires repaired / New Carb Boots /Gas Tank Cleaned / New Plugs/ 125 lbs compression
Starts up and runs and drives but now the things that still need to be done.
NEEDS Clutch and tires not that good front goes flat over night.
This bike has a clear title and has low miles . Its here in New Jersey

Why do the valves need to be done for a running motor with low miles ?

I had an xj550 I sold and I got hit on that a lot. I told them the same thing you said. I confirmed good compression, as did you. I guess XJ collectors are big on that. I was a member of xj4evr.com and I had to leave that site. I ended up selling it for what I wanted, the buyer was happy. If it aint broke, why fix it? I think you have this one priced to sell and don't doubt you will get it. They are a hoot to ride
