Are you kidding. Ya!Anyone wanna see some local carshow pics? Taken at a local diner called "Little Anthony's".
No its a 1971 Falcon GT one I restored from a wreck, runs 14.1@100mph over 1/4 mileIs that middle pic. a Cortina?
Had this one for several years, '37 Buick 46S - bone stock except for a 1946 Carter carb, turn signals and later wheel rims. Always loved the styling, how the body lines just flow together. Cars with side-mounted spares are more desirable to collectors, but I think they just break up the smooth flow of the lines in side view.
I was born in 1950, got my Driver's licence in 1966, just to give you a point of reference.
'55 through '57 were PRIMO years for Ford and Chevy, the rest of the big outfits not so much in my opinion. Never got into the whole Fins and Chrome thing.
Everything turned to crap in 1958 and Detroit didn't build another decent looking car until 1963 or 1964 with the possible exception of the '62 Chevies.
But, as they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder"
oh I do like the tri-year Chevs 55,56,57, dont get me wrong...I just like the tri-year Buicks more..,..all GM and all good years, specially '57 the year I was born.As I said, beauty is in the eye...our tastes just differ, that's all.
Shit stirrer...
1956 may have been the peak of Detroit styling. A '56 Ford Victoria or Thunderbird would be right at the top of my list if I hit the megabucks.
The reality of the situation, however, is that I'd NEVER go back to carbureted engines, drum brakes and the sorry excuse for suspension that comes with nostalgia. Now if you could drop that '56 Vicky on a modern running gear...
