Are you using something like PPG base coat clear coat? Or what ? I’ve been out of professional paint for too long.
Yeah... I haven't painted professionally for 20+ yrs. Dupont and PPG were my 2 go to's back then. I used this stuff from Ebay....

Never used it before... :yikes: but everything I read said it was good stuff and it didn't break the bank. I was a little apprehensive at first... the first coat of silver mottled big time, same with the second. I was gettin' sorta bummed, then I remembered that PPG silver base used to do exactly the same. 2 more coats and the mottling disappeared. The candy was to die for. I've never seen a candy lay out so smooth and even. Same with the clear. I think it's the best leveling clear I've ever seen. Even better than Imron... and that's saying a lot!
Overall.....2 thumbs up. :)

Well you certainly can’t argue with the results, it’s coming out just beautiful. It’s sure is some tedious work though huh? So many steps.

So is that tank what those emblems I shipped out yesterday are going on? If so I hope they meet your approval when next to that red!
They will when I'm done with 'em....

OK.... so I'm rebuilding the vacuum petcock. Got all the parts from Partzilla.... except for the o-ring that goes on the diaphragm. Anyone know what size it is? Where I can get one? @gggGary ? @5twins ? Bueller?

Yup, that tank is just beautiful, it looks prettier than a Ming vase. And it's just as vulnerable to damage.
HTF will that tank's pristine state survive not only abuse but the ordinary dings of careful installation and riding?

Next question... I didn't order the mikes XS petcock kit 'cause I read bad things about the 5 hole rubber seal.
Is the diaphragm in mikes kit any good?
Is this the correct kit?
That's 2 questions..... sorry.

It's only new once Fred. It wont get any abuse... and I never dinged one installin' it. Normal wear and dings from use? I'm sure it'll happen.

Well since I couldn't find anything on this site and no one seems to have an opinion, I ordered the kit from Mikes. All I need from it is the diaphragm.... fingers crossed. Rest of the petcock is back together with OEM seals.....
