similar to what jussumguy said, I've had luck driving a slightly larger torx head into stripped allen bolts. the torx are hard steel and will cut the allen head.

best bet would be to clean/replace your filters and oil and run it for 50 miles or so. if you notice any disturbing noises park it and check for metal. otherwise wait 50 miles and check the filters. it may be many years of build up. also, make sure you have magnetic drain plugs.

Haha! It certainly looks like a good buy but, as stated above, definitely HAGGLE! I would emphasize the point that it doesn't run so a: you can't hear it run, and b: you can't test ride it and therefor you have to take the sellers word that it isn't a total heap. That sort of talk always helps...

Do you mean engine side cover? I know the older XS had a slightly different shape on the left side than the later models. This makes them a bit more rare.
