    Pamco hall effect chip info

Just an update for anyone that is interested. I spoke to the sensor division at Honeywell and the guy I spoke to told me that he believed that the original hall effect sensor on the Pamco unit was made by them and that it was likely that it was the older version of the ss461A. He said that the...

    Pamco hall effect chip info

Thanks for the quick reply. I looked through that thread and checked out the pamco thread that is linked in there. Unfortunately, he was replacing the IGBT chip in the board. I'm pretty sure that this is fine on my pamco unit. What appears to be shot was the actual hall effect sensor. The...

    Pamco hall effect chip info

Has anyone out there had any success replacing the hall effect sensor on a Pamco? I had a coil failure that I believe led to toasting the chip on the Pamco board but I haven't been able to find a replacement with the exact numerical code on the sensor that came in the Pamco. I sent a message...

    Verification on Handle Switches (XS2)

These don't look right for 72. Not sure what they're from. My 72 has hi/low, on/off (headlight) and the horn on the left. On the right, just the kill switch and there should also be the decompression lever on the right controls. Ignition looks about right, but I'd have to see the guts to know.

    bad cheese?

Thats a lock tab. It was probably folded over one side of the nut to keep it from spinning. You can probably pound it flat and reuse it, but new one's are available from Mike's. Looks like it might be worth replacing. Seems like maybe it's been used a couple of times.

Early Caliper Brake Adapter for SS Lines

you could also just get the line with a male fitting on the caliper end. I ordered one from this guy on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BOBBER-MOTORCYCLE-STAINLESS-BRAIDED-BRAKE-LINE-HOSE-Lines-Hoses-Ape-Clubman-Bar-/190880928602?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2c7163d35a...

New Master Cylinder and Lines, cannot get fluid to even bleed past master. Have Pics

Sometimes it takes a while to get fluid through the line and to the point where you can start to build any pressure. I just replaced my brake line a couple of days ago and I had good luck filling the master cylinder and leaving the bleeder on the caliper closed. If you pump slowly and...

Motor seized randomly.....no really it did.

Also, totally agree with JP. Mine was running totally great before it took a shit. Took it out for a ride and suddenly sounded noisy - next day it was totally stuck when I went to kick it over.

Motor seized randomly.....no really it did.

What year is the motor? I have a 72 and they put slugs in the crank flywheel that in my case eventually let go. My motor would turn to a point, then it would hit something that would stop it at the same point in the rotation every time. When I opened up the sump and looked up into the motor...

    Timing light question

That sounded a bit weird. The pistons rotate the same way, they fire in an alternating fashion, i.e. one is on the compression while the other is on the exhaust stroke. Either way the timing mark is the same for both cylinders.

    Timing light question

Same place. Pistons move up and down together. They're both in the same position they just fire on opposite rotations.

    Replacing rubber on gear shifter:

if you ordered a mike's replacement rubber, you might keep your eyes open for an OEM replacement. I purchased one and it lasted about 3-6 months before it split in half at the seam and ended up on the road somewhere. I happened to find one on a XS850 part bike that was in decent shape and it...

    Decompression tappet block off?

Any of the 4 hole covers from later years will work. I also have a '72 that is kick only and I replaced mine when I removed the starter. Just got mine on ebay. Should be able to find one for ten bucks.

Just noticed looking at this picture that the disc is on your ATU the wrong way. I am pretty sure that the line on the disc has to line up on the advance unit. There is a post somewhere that pamcopete made somewhere that describes the only way it will work otherwise. Has to do with all of...
