Along that train of thought would it be possible that new o-rings would take a bit of time to "break in" and start retracting after a rebuild? Just spit balling
Correct me if I'm wrong. But the chain guard part behind the hand will need to be removed to check or access the c clip that retains the whole shaft from pushing in and not engaging the star gear thing on the other side?
How much play is there w the back of the clutch/flywheel. I'm wondering if I need to add another washer.... Po had it apart so I did not see it removed. Been guessing and using the manual to try to reassemble.

I'm trying to determine if it's easier to get a title for a custom bike (using the no title bike- creating a bobber and calling it a 2016) or doing the rediculous amount of work to get the title recovered.

Tilt the engine, inside the frame. Reattach the upper bracket to the engine. Tie ratchet strap to top of engine. Then connect a come along to the strap and to roof rafter (at the other end). Ratchet and wiggle engine until it's free. A second person is helpful but not mandatory. Roll the bike...
