It could be possible that the stock plastic swingarm bushing is shot. Dime City Cycles has new bronze bushings for $29.99 plus shipping. Should be an easy swap.
I got some VHT roll bar chassis paint that worked pretty good on another bike. Another trick to cover things up from over spray is aluminum foil. You can conform it easy to what you want covered and no tape.
I have this one on my Dual Sport and seems to work great. Haven't had a problem. One thing to get used to, is that you have to "rock" it back to center to cancel the turn signal instead of "pressing" in like some OEM switches.
