DECEMBER UPDATE: Finally got our build bike on the table after fixing an oil leak on my 83 Heritage. Spent a couple hours one evening partially tearing her down. Here's a progress pic with my oldest, Eli.

Haven't worked on it that last couple days because my newest daughter arrived. Everybody meet Jude, born at 10:33 am Dec. 5. She's "waving howdy." This pic was taken a few hours after she was born.

Congrats man

December update: pulled engine out and beginning teardown to see what kind of damage 24K miles and 32 years have done.... decided on a swap to 18/21spoked rain catchers.... looking for parts for a twin disc front brake set-up

I can't help but want to help those looking for a project. I have a 71 hardtailed. It does have transmission issues in first and second gear. I also have a mid eighties motor with electric start. The eighties motor I am not aware of it's history I picked it up from a fella who was starting to have dementia issues. Therefor he couldn't tell me what if anything was wrong with it. I am gonna try and attach some photos of both. I can be contacted through my email.

The 71 has a PAMCO and PMA system installed. I have original carbs not installed. I do have Sudco's on the bike but I think they need new jets. I will add more info when I get photos of it.

I'll add a December update before people think this thread is the classified section.

I have my chassis probably 90% complete... I need to commit to an electrical enclosure before committing to powder coat. Need to think about a chain tensioner also...

For your electrics tank ever thought about going to the scrap yard and looking around to see what is interesting? The great thing is that you only pay scrap prices, not retail. And you can modify it to suit your needs. Another thing that could help is someone here can look and square you away. Just a thought. Maybe an old fire extinguisher.

I seem to get lucky at times and find some great steel that I needed and built crap with it. Junk yards are awesome places to go to also. I loved going to my grandpa's junk yard and walk around. All sorts of cool stuff.

Are you going with short exhaust or did you check to make sure the pipes will clear? I had to modify my forward controls a bit. What a pain!

I am leaning toward a TT style exhaust... or a set of high side pipes on one side. I'll be fabricating my own by either starting from scratch with some mandrel bends or modifying this cruddy looking 2-1 system have on hand. I'll probably end up fabricating my own forward controls too... so no worries there.

I have some ideas for my elec box too... I want to depart from the usual cylinder fake oil tank though... I like the Pandemonium E-Bomb a whole lot... so I might fab up something similarly themed (Or just throw money at it and buy the E-Bomb.) I'll think of it a bit mroe after the Holiday.

Depending on what all you are running in the way of lights, signals, and starter; you could make or modify something super small and mount under frame or attach to bottom of seat, out of eyesight. Hey amazon has some stash cans for hiding stuff in plain sight for in the house. I have thought of getting and using one of those too. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...ield-keywords=stash+can&sprefix=stash,aps,223
Check them out.

if you're looking for something totally out of the box, you need to figure the total space needed then go from there. There are plenty of micro switches and relays and such available.

As promised earlier in the month, a photo update.

A few things will be changed. That's all just mockup. It's too damned cold outside and in the garage to do much.

I must admit, I wish mine was a soft-tail.
Wiggins, so do you think you'll stick with the knobby up front? I see a couple of what looks like Harley parts from a swap meet. I tried getting a seat close to yours at the local swap meet but the guy thought it was made of gold!!
