1010cc cafe racer

That's looking great, John. Coupla questions.

Are you sure that you want the rear brake actuating rod to be ABOVE the axle?

Will the front fork brace crunch the hydraulic brake lines during suspension movement?

Hi TwoMany!
Been a while.
Fair questions, both.

I've ridden her hard, and the brakes work great, and South African roads are notorious for potholes, and no interference..

Thank you!!

Don't some of the Aussies regularly build XS motors between 810 and 830ccs?

I may have been high but....

Does anyone remember seeing pictures of a "square four" XS that someone made? It used two heads, two cams, two cranks/cases, two sets of barrels. The rear cylinder head was turned around so the intake faced forward and exhaust faced back (obviously, needed a custom cam but not impossible) It used two cranks which were tied together on the generator side and used one clutch. The front pair had the transmission sawed off and joined to the front of the rear case. It used two carbs- the intakes for them stuck out of the side of the bike. Not sure where the iggys were- probably on the ends of the cams.If you have ever seen an Ariel Square Four, you know the concept. 1500ccs with a 750 kit in each set of barrels.

Good grief!
I love the cult status of these bikes.
Men are prepared to go to all kinds of extremes with them just to innovate.

The answer to my wife's question of why will be the same to all our wives

Because we can!

Love it!!

This is one of the best looking XS650's on planet earth

Almost done. No, really :)

Any suggestions for a digital tach?

Acewell 4454 looks great, but pricey!

Anyone used a 2853?
Good price, but seems a bit small..

Hi John,

I have the Acewell 2853 and am happy with it. It is a little small but my near vision is very good so not an issue for me. It has lots of functions which is what I was after. You need a battery of some kind to store data and settings. I have a cap and one of the very small alarm batteries, a 0.8Ah that sits on top of my coils.

Great project and results you have there!

Best,
Glenn

I can't read a thing without my specs, but no prob seeing in the distance.

Yours looks great, but I'm gonna have to give it some thought with these old eyes..

Best regards
