What have you done to your XS today?

Hey Jim, you putting the resto on a website somewhere? Is there... like... a Kaw. triple forum like this one?
Back in the day, I had the pearl white one (70 I think?). I now regret letting that one go.

Hard to believe it was 50 years ago. Where does time go?

I am dismantling a TX 500 cush hub with reference to 5Twin's excellent seminar. I have removed the first cogged ring without too much difficulty and directly behind it is another which is a lot more "set in its ways".
Just looking for confirmation that the second cogged ring has to be lefty loosey'd out/off before I go back at it. I have it soaking penetrating oil for a while.
Thanks.

Lakeview, watch this short video I have made for you - all will be revealed...hope you can understand Australian ;)

Does tightening/ adjusting the cam chain affect valve clearance?
Hi cafetools not really it effects the timing there is a process.....Plug gap... valve clearance... then tensioner... then timing.... if I remember rightly the short answer LOL
By adjusting the tensioner it moves or distrupts the camshaft as the cam chain goes around the bottom crank shaft and then around and over the camshaft centre cog... so by adjusting the tensioner you can distrupt or change timing either advance or retatd .....so its best to do the process above ....which is the long answer
All the best Funky

Success!!
Trying a single pry bar, I could see that any side force would just jamb up the parts. The penetrating oil seemed to have freed it to the extent that I could tap on a sprocket tooth and get a couple mm radial movement but prying it from one side was not going to release it.
So a couple pieces of wood and a couple flat pry bars, even pressure on both sides popped it off with hardly any effort.
All the cush rubbers are present and in good order, bearings are shiney so a bit of clean up and ready to go.
And to think just 48 hours ago I was driving away from the seller with a massive case of buyer's remorse.
All better now.
Thank you to 5Twins and Hotdog for the how to do it.
