Keep seeing this xs on eBay only selling the pipes, it's got to be one of the strangest xs's out there looks like a cross between a Honda c90, flattracker and a chop.

I like it. Tried to find more pics so that I could see the engine brace better. Only found the same pic, but a larger version -- I cropped it so that it would comply with this forum:

Couple of things I don't understand: First, why wasn't the engine bracket painted blue?
Second, why is the exhaust pipe sitting on the footrest and blocking the shifter? The exhaust doesn't fit the flow of the bike at all. I imagine that it had a nice custom exhaust, and that the eBay seller had an extra header to sell that he just threw on this bike for illustration purposes.
Additional notes: The left-side cover has an "oiler hole" in it, and appears to be square-cornered, which would make it a 1974. Has a non-XS650 steering damper. The fuel tank is below the carbs, so I'm guessing it has an electric fuel pump?

I can appreciate the builders dedication to.... his vision.... and I'm sure he accomplished his goals... But from a practical point.. it's.. not. Not a back road enjoy the view ride …. gadzooks don't even think of any high speeds...
I'm sure it's a great local ride in.. wonder what he used to fuel the carbs....

Looks like the builder may have an "Abstract Art "book on the coffee table, with Picasso bookmarked.

and an old Hotrod Magazine, featuring the "Michigan Madman", EJ Potter on his night stand.

I didn't see what state he is from....maybe they retail recreational pot ?

The tank looks lower than the carbs. I guess it has some kind of a fuel pump?

Well If they were selling the bike cheap enough I would buy it to use what parts I could get that engine into something it deserves.
I give $150 to $200 if it ran.

Hi Pete,
relax, you'll feel better after you find your dark glasses.
Crotch oiling can't happen until the engine starts so I reckon the rider is safe for the forseeable future.
If that XS650-engined piece of modern art were mine I'd salvage the engine and wheels then stick the rest
of it arse-down in my back yard to be a support a climbing plant. A fast-growing one.

Regardless of the design, I think he enjoyed designing and, or building that frame. Too bad it doesn't work from an engineering standpoint. My friend built a frame for a hovercraft. He never finished the project, but was pleased with that frame he built. He went on to build a metal sculptures.
