There"s a street tracker build in the sept oct issue of motorcycle classics magazine, nothing as special as a mule but a nice bike never the less. According to the magazine there where 250,000 yamaha Xs 650's produced. Also Xs in this months cafe magazine. Just thought some of you guys might be...
Ride the honda and rebuild the Xs , fun bikes to wrench on. There's a huge collection of photos of the Xs on the web just surf around. also check out 650 central and mikes Xs for parts et. There are a lot of knowledgeable guys in here to help you out. It"s not the best bike to hard tail it takes...
I agree with you guys %100 about the chop. Griz the last 650 I bought cost me $150. Last time I made a comment I was attacked by every jesse james wanna be in here, actually one of those lame brains I think his name was Fong bros actually started a thread to pat himself on the back and attack me...
It"s getting rather old all this whining about mikes. I have a great idea stop buying parts from him if your so damn unhappy, or better yet step up to the plate and open your own XS parts store. With 3 articles in 3 different magazines on the XS 650 this month you should do great and make tons...
Nothing better than good old fashion solder and shrink tubing with a little dielectric thrown in for good measure. You can buy all those connections at mikes for a buck or two
If thats what I think I see there's a good chance your mono shock will fail in a miserable fashion.Thats a pretty dangerous setup and no I have to agree with teebs not a big fan of the seat setup nor will you be once you try to ride it. But it's all good sit back regroup and attack the project...
Anyone know of a good source for fork boots for xs 35mm forks. Heard there where problems with mikes. Last set I had got at a swap meet from a triumph guy they where awesome perfect fit good rubber et. I just want a pair that fit well and will last a few years. Thanks
Just wanted to say that I never said the bike would handle better,if it's written in the post it was put there by someone else to bust my balls and I don't drink so I didn't do it by accident. Raking obviously makes turning a problem among other things
Gentleman jim everything is dialed in perfectly, there's definately nothing wrong. My concern is building a 750 this winter I don't think I can do it with stock gears. Actually john underwood RIP sent me a few primary gears to play around with.
Been riding xs's on and off for over 20 years and just got back into them about 5 years ago built 3 and all have the same problem.I"m always trying to shift into 6th gear. When I first got back into them I remember taking my 77 out riding with bro inlaw and sis. When we got on the highway I...
Mikes always taken care of me. I agree with the griz, right on!! all these little jesse james wannabe's been hacking on the old xs for too long maybe its time they go ruin some old cb's or something. I don't mind the chop but when everyone welds on a hardtail kit, sportster tank, ape hangers and...
There"s a turn signal light, oil low light, high beam and neutral light. It comes with directions real simple to hook up make sure you solder connections and heat wrap the connections. If you try to use bullet connectors the thin wire just doesn't work so well with them due to vibration et.
How come all you guys chopping up xs"s don't rake the front end? SOme of these bikes would look so much better, and handle nicer if you got rid of the 27 degree stock rake, hell even a 32 would give the bike nicer lines. Now go ahead and hate on me.
