    Dubious distinctions

In another thread, Jesse James got brought up. I guess our boy Jesse is a distant relative of the original bank bad boy. He sure resembles him, I'll say that. I really am a descendant of Kit Carson (a great great grandfather I think, I don't know why he was go great-great, maybe he had a...

How to: change front sprocket seal?

I really did look for this before I posted. I read somewhere that there is a kit that lets you change the front sprocket shaft seal without a lot of pain. Can't find it. Is that the answer I need or is it not hard to pop the old one out and press in a new one?

An Estimator tool for buying/building a bike?

Here's the scenario: 1. I see a pretty good deal on a bike. I might want to buy it, fix it up or use it for a total new build. My objective is to sell it for a profit. 2. I need a way to quickly estimate how much I would have to spend to get the bike like I want it. I'm thinking a...

    Get a buzz

As most of you have figured out by now, most of my posts have a certain 'lack of gravity'. Well, here we go again. Some people have suggested that my bike needs theme music that would mysteriously play whenever I rode up. I know that's what most of you guys do. Many have proposed 'Rocket...

    The unemotional Mikes thread

[Deep breath] [Positive thoughts] Here we go... We, the people, desire to buy quality parts for our motorsikkles without a lotta hassle. Since our bikes are a little fringe, we find ourselves limited in the sources for said parts. Be it resolved, therefore, ahem, that we although we find...

    Community Work Shop

THis is primarily directed at guys in the KC area but it could work anywhere. I was reading this: http://money.cnn.com/2010/09/14/technology/techshop/index.htm?source=cnn_bin&hpt=Sbin and thinking it would be cool if a bunch of guys threw some money and equipment into a pot, rented a...

    Clutch Spring Cap Screw Modification

Recently I disassembled and removed my clutch basket to replace the infamous defective starter gear. When it came time to remove the six Phillips-head cap screws holding the pressure plate and discs together, I noticed that they were very tight. It took a lot of beef to get them loose. When...

    The 'Old School Way'

Isn't it cool when you get a chance to see how something is/was done, the OSW? It amazes me sometimes the ingenuity, artistry and courage of the early builders. We wouldn't have choppers, bobbers, rail dragsters, hot rods, rat trucks or drop top '49 Mercs without those prototypical designers...
