that springer is look'n kickass good work man i rode a trump for a bit that was rock'n a springer the thing rode great. i know the lighter bikes handle better with springers on them

thanks brother!!! now I just have to decide mag or spoked rim.....

i'd do a spoke if ur run'n the old caddy caps on the back and im not a fan of mags on springer but thats just me.

so i rode my xs750 cafe to a buddy of mines thats a cafe/rocket guy. I told him we where do'n this and he ask me why i keep make'n hardtail bobs and chops? he said that i build nice cafes and sport bikes ( i built a busa powerd slammed turbo/nos feed gsxr600 back in 2005) why keep do'n the same thing. we work'd on his kz cafe project and shot the shit then we had a few swigs of shine and flipped threw some old sport bike rags he had lay'n around. i got home later and started this a xs650 swingarm that still needs bacing but is go'n to set the tone of the build a vintage cafe trim/slammed sport bike xs650. the cover i made is out i'll put it on my bobber i have to find a few things but this is against the grain at least for what were do'n here

a stock swingarm and some 6 1/4" sections i cut out of another with slug stock

i weldded it to some 1/4" stock and then cut it

pretty and clean is what i get asked to do so it's time to ton up and pull the full face lid out shed so it can be painted to match:D

Well I had a little time today so I mounted a tank to see how I like it. If I decide to keep it, i'll put in a sight gauge and do something different with the filler neck. Duel brass petcocks. It's starting to look like what I had in mind. Thinking of stretching the swing arm an inch or two to get it a little lower.

most the older springers had built in dog bones, clamps post for dog bones,or holes to bolt bars straight to the top of the frontend. did that one have anything like that?

No its got nothing.... I may just have to pop a couple holes in it on the top clamp.... I've seen some springers that look like they have the risers coming off the back legs.... I thought about drilling and tapping those too... I'd like to build some riser less bars tho...

Clip ons? Or bend up your own that flow naturally from rear legs... like the legs continue up and become the bars... pull backs, apes or drag style... just my 2 cents

Got everything back together on my bike pretty much stock, and got her running...gotta finish up a few other things (wiring and such) and going to take her for a test run this weekend....As I said i'm not chopping until after Christmas, but I'm looking foward to the test run =D

I may have to come up off the rear legs due to the lack of room on the top clamp...I really want to make some riserless attack bars done in the tune of my MULE handle bars that I sell. I want a 10 inch ish rise (I think lol)

I thought about clip ons as I could just make them part of the top clamp but want to do something a little taller to off set the sissy bar Im building.

Thanks man! motor and tins should be finished in the next week and a half...then its a parts making frenzy!

This bike shouldnt look to bad....considering it started out as a stock frame and six boxes of stock motor parts lol (the motor had been completly dissassembled)
