Thanks Pete...

Glad you chimed in...

Sorry!! Not sure about how to check the year of engine. It's a 100% chopped raked out bike. Just the basics...

Can you advise on how to tell you the year?

Thanks

To the best of my knowedge (and I do not claim to know it all) all rotors are basicly the same. Just starting in the '80 the addition of the small magnet for the TCI ignition system. Nothing to do with the alternator/electric generation system. So it is possible to run any rotor in any stator. '79 and earlier used a different stator than the '80 and later.

I was going to say yes it will work together. The 80 stator has the floating ground so using the 80 reg/rec is an easy setup and works better than the pre 80 regs and rects.
The frame number is stamped into the steering head. The engine number is stamped into the upper engine case behind the front engine mount. You can compare these numbers to several list out there to determine the year of the frame and engine.
You can find a list in the Tech section.
