Ive been thinking of throwing my 71 engine into my 74, cus the 74 is getting a bit tired and the 71 is already out of frame and halfway through a teardown

Is this a simple bolt on affair or would this require some machining?

does your 71 have electric start or is it a XS1 motor?

The XS1 has different front motor mount locations.

The early frames, before 74 are built different.
All the engine mount points on the engines are the same.
Use the 74 mounts in the 74 frame and the 71 engine will bolt right in.

Hi guys, fairly new here, anyways... I've got an '80 SG motor in my '71. All I did was drill out the ('71) front mount plates where they bolt to the engine. I then used the '71 top mount. -no problems-

Yup it's not a big deal but not "quite" plug and play putting 70-71 engines into later frames.
