Hi, everyone.
I am having major difficulties getting my sliders apart on my XS. I have a '76 650, and I am trying to remove the bottom dampner bolt, however, the dampner just spins inside the slider when attempting to loosen the bolts. I have tried a broom stick down the tube, placing pressure on it as I loosen the bolt, but it still spins on me.

Any ideas/tricks to keeping the dampner from spinning on me?

Thanks.

Easiest is an air wrench. Leave the springs in and the cap on. It helps to have the fork upside down and push hard on it while using the air wrench. I cut a section off a hex wrench and put it in a socket to use the gun. If you are just doing fork seals the only time you need to take the cap off is after it is all back together to add the new oil.

I will try that and see how she goes. I am lowering the forks and also replacing the seals.
Thank you for the response.

There may be a how to in the tech section. May even show the tools you need to make to help get them apart.
