Finally...a lot of measuring and machining, but now is every part ready and hopefully will it work also! :)
Use Alto 2,5mm plates, and steel plates machined down to 1,25mm,and some machining at the hub and pressureplate to make some room for the increased thickness.
And wanted to get rid of the pushrod and "whimpy" mechanism,so I took a mechanism from a Suzuki GT750 twostroke and modified the clutch cover to have the release mechanism on that.
As mentioned, much measuring, machining, measuring, machinig and so on...but hopefully a good gripping clutch without mega-hard springs!
And maybe overkill….but I like to test things and loves to work at the lathe and mill, better than a theraphysession at some doctor after a crazy day at work!!;)

Anders.

Nicely done! A roughly 30% increase in friction area means you can have less spring tension. How is the "pull" rod contacting the pressure plate? Bearing or metal to metal like the original "push" rod?
Looking forward to your test reports.

Thanks Jim!
Yes,I Think the increased area will help to get grip without having "super-hard" springs and have good "feel" at the clutch.
Have a axial needle bearing at the "pull-rod",wanted some kind of bearing and not metal-to-metal.

Top work thanks for posting. Where did you source the plates from Heiden Tuning ?

Added bonus of pull clutch is that a larger than 18 tooth front sprocket can be used.

Thank's!
No,bougt the plates on Ebay UK,found them a bit cheaper there.
And Heiden sells a complete kit with only 8 plates...needed 9. ;)
And the sprocket size are a bonus, but not sure what gearing I need, this will be a "Race-Only" Flattrack bike.

And just let me know if someone needs more photos, just glad if my work can help others with some ideas.:)
Anders.

Andewrs JB I have been looking on Ebay UK for the Alto plates with no luck.
Do you recall what you searched for or the seller?
Have you started a thread on your flat tracker I am sure there are plenty of people on here that would love to see what you are up to. Me included.

Well….if You search for this clutchplates for XS650 You find nothing at all.
But the tip of the day is to search for Suzuki GS1000 clutchplates, they are exactly the same dimensions as XS650,and perfect fit!!;)
NOT the shaftdrive model,(GS1000G),but only the chaindrive type...
And the GS1000 have 8pcs 3,0 mm plates standard,so their "Performance Kit" that says "1 more plate than standard" have 9pcs 2,5 mm plates.
Bought one like this, saved the springs and steelplates for some "nice-to-have-in-the-future" spare, and used the Altoplates only.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-GS1...h=item544e928cb9:g:2LsAAOSw56pbP2br:rk:1:pf:0

Seems to be a lot of this kits on the market, and maybe possible to buy only the plates from some Suzuki Performance Shop or similar, but I went the fast way and bought a kit from Ebay.

And don't have any thread, but a lot of Pictures...take photos al the time when I build bikes, nice to have when I try to remember how I did a part or so...
On my Facebookpage do I have many photos of varios bikes and things, search "Anders Jonasson-Beltin" so can You maybe see some of them there for now….maybe I can start a thread later here so more can see?
Anders.
