Could this make the bike run hot?

Now that you have it running good off of "static" timing... it's a good time to use a timing light and dial things in. I'm guessing you don't have a dwel meter... don't worry about that, but using a timing light is kinda important. Helps prevent things like holes in the pistons... ;)

last evening I took point plate off off bike. Unwired coils and points. Rewired all back together. Than was able to static time the bike. Seems to run good. No road test rained and small fender on front none and back make for a dirty ride. Will take back out this evening. Test light is just a 12 volt bulb I wired to gator clips too.
6 mile ride are these ok?

Ideally, they'd be a similar color (maybe the lighting). Realize it takes a few highway miles to burn-off the soot from choke & warm-up. Look OK
How'd it run?

Congratulations! Your persistence and hard work paid-off; makes the success that much sweeter....

Apparently you fixed the charging issue (way back) too?
The bike was charging. But I still installed my 12volt 5ah battery. I found a small one mentioned earlier the size of a cig pack. But the price is a bit high.

If you're still on the top needle slot and if it's a little flat mid-throttle or hesitates a bit, you could go to the second slot

Is the static timing not a good way to go?
Static timing is what you do just to get the engine running. Dynamic timing (strobe light) is what you do to get it running right. Static only gets you close... close enough to run. From the sound of it, you got pretty damn close.... maybe dead on even, but until you put a light on it, you'll never know for sure.
If you're too advanced....and possibly too lean to boot, well that's a recipe for detonation... which leads to holes in the pistons. Not to scare you, but yeah... always a possibility.

Leave it there then if it takes throttle well. (talking about carb needles)

It's good, mostly required, to set the initial timing statically. However, especially since you have a PMA rotor, it's much better to set the timing with a strobe and verify that the advanced timing above 2000rpm is not more than 40degrees before TDC

Over 300 hours. I know its a bobber. But its what Ive wanted for many years just couldnt afford one so I built it instead.
