Frame width at seat mounts ???

Was there a change in the width at the top of the frame rails after 73-74 ish?

I bought a cafe seat pan and a good pic from the seller shows it on the PO's 650, but ot wont even come close to fitting on my 72' frame. Its way too narrow at the front. The seat has a constant angle to the front, while my frame rails are straight from shock mounts to 3 inches from the rear tank stay.

were later frames narrower???

They did a bunch of changes to the frame for the 74 model year. Added a bunch more gussets and bracing. They may have changed the point where the frame starts to angle in at.
