The long forsaken project - Runs and is almost roadworthy sans rear brakes ;-)

I gotta get riding!

This is my first 650. I think it needs a little more than just brakes, but this would make a great first upgrade!

I'm looking to start this project next spring and as you can see, it will need some love and a new front brake kit would be welcome. Here's my second XS2, still not sure if it's gonna be a cafe racer or a bobber...

Here is mine, bought it as a basket case... I think it's an 81. The motor runs, I'm just trying to get everything else sorted out.

After a lot of research I found that the xs 650 was the way to go for the garage bike mechanic. Except my situation was a little different I had a welding project to do for class and was on an insanely tight budget. My first frame was a hard tail but it didn't quite turn out as planned. So I tried again and made a soft tail. This one has come worlds further than the first and I now have a much better grasp on what the hell I was doing. Yes this is one of my first experiences with metal and oh yeah. Ive never ridden but my wife has. She told me I needed at least an 1000 v-twin. I said to her, "dear, you might blow by me power wise but when we are at the gas station whose bike do you think everyone will be looking at? Im pretty sure they've seen 1000 bikes just like yours." I am getting to that point of figuring out what I am going to do for brakes. I saw this contest and figured I had to enter.

Here is my beast for entry. Not the prettiest, but should be a reliable ride to and from work. Thanks for the opportunity.

I'd like to loose some weight up front, three kids since this picture was taken. Hopefully I'm riding it in the spring!!! Just need to fix the garage heater first...

Don't see my post so here it is again. I have a '71 and a '73 that that brake kit could go on. most likely the '71 since the '73 is in rough shape.
