Good News !

I so should’ve kept my Triumph Bonneville. It was mechanically perfect and ran so nice. If I would’ve spent a fraction of the money on it , that I have spent on my two Yamahas it would be a show bike.

Mailman it looks like a "wet frame" Bonneville with Lockheed disc brakes. A 1973 to 1978 I'm guessing?
Give us more details and photos man !

Thanks! Yes it was a ‘76 Bonny, oil in frame, first year for the front and rear disc. I bought it from Baxter Cycle in Iowa, found it in an ad in Walnecks Classic Cycle magazine ( remember that? ) We worked out a deal , he rebuilt the motor before shipping it to me. When I got it I tore it all down and cleaned it all up and painted the frame , put new handlebar switch gear, brand new Amals, rebuilt the forks, recovered the seat, new sprockets and chain , plus much more. The only thing that wasn’t right was the custom paint job. I should’ve kept it and popped for a factory paint job.

I rode the wheels off of and absolutely loved it, but eventually I got new bike fever and traded it back to Baxter for a new Triumph Bonneville America cruiser.

Own, ride and care for a vintage British 650 twin and you'll never lose a dime. Ever.
I can't argue that point. However, most people, this group excluded, are not capable of the "care for" part. The new bike will rapidly lose value, but it shouldn't need to be repaired for some time.

Beauty Mailman ! ! !
I have a 77 TR7-RV Tiger 5-speed Roadster and Randy has always been really fair with me also. Can't say enough good things about him and his shop.
Did you ever get out to Raber's shop in San Jose before they closed ? ? ?
What an awesome place that was !

No but I remember shopping his business. WOW What a hoard of parts! That looks like Triumph Mecca.

It was a wonderful place where you could go and spend an entire day just wondering around and get just about anything for your bike at a reasonable price. Mr. Raber is in the first photo and he said that the City of San Jose was trying to zone them out and tax them out of business so he auctioned off all the parts, all the bike inventory and went home with the money and retired. I like it when a good guy wins but boy howdy do I miss that place.

Bringin' the "Big Twin" home from Bethany, MO.
