XS650 Enthusiast
I've been a member of this forum but had never "confirmed" it, so kind of forgot about it.
So hello and I hope to become an active part of it. Seems the activity on the 2 FB pages for the XS650 are pretty active and I still post and reply on the micapeak list often.
I've owned a 77-D, 80-SG, but sold them after doing semi-restorations and riding for a short while then selling. Had a 79-SF for quite a few years which is in a state of disassembly pending engine repair that has a "tic" every revolution of the crank, it's sitting on a shelf in the garage.
Been acquiring some parts in preparation building a sort of modernized tracker with little different look from a normal tracker. So far I have a full Radian swing-arm set, a XS400 18" rear wheel, 78-E standard tank and a few other small items. Been toying with the idea of using a seat from a 2003-2008 ZX6R for comfort and maybe hand mold a tail piece or custom fit a tracker seat/tail to the ZX seat. Already have a peg/controls set-back plate I made from a piece of thick aluminum plate that will need some more cutting and shaping for a cleaner look. Really want to adapt a hydraulic clutch, parts saved on FleeceBay and Amazon.
Had a GM HEI ignition module I built that used the points as low-current switches that was on the 79-SF but transferred to the 77-D and let it go with it when I sold it. Have had a Pamco unit still NIB on the shelf I may install on the 79-SF or may build another GM HEI unit, it worked great with the HD Dynaco knock-off coil. Been thinking of trying a set of EX500 carbs because I used my only good set of BS38's on the 77-D. Have a couple sets of 38's in boxes but don't think there is a good set of diaphragms in the lot.
Well that's about all I can think of right now - lol.
Oh yeah, I repair the TCI boxes if anyone has one that does not work or if their 80 and up seems to not run properly at times or does weird stuff.
