Hello,

Please see my introduction here:

http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?p=122767#post122767

I found an XS1B in very nice condition, hasn't been ridden since 1981, well stored, all original accessories (except tires), original gold paint, sissy bar (...)

I would like to put this beautiful bike back on the road, but I do not know much about mechanics, I'm more of the wood type... ;-)

How do I go into inspecting this bike, what should I specifically look for (problems, replacements, upgrades, etc.).

More importantly, how do I get this bike setup for a test run after 30 years storage???

Any ideas about how much I should offer the owner?

Thanks in advance,

gabriel :bike:

There is a sticky on the home page with all the info you will need to get a good evaluation of your 'new' ride.

Go to the tech menu and look at "Buying guide - Getting to know your bike" under "Maintenance and General Troubleshooting" near the bottom of the page.

How much it is worth? Depends on the condition. Need pics for a guide then it also depends on the motor, does it turn over and what is the compression

Oh, I hadn't noticed those links since I was only browsing the forum.

Lots of info there, that will sure get me started!

Thanks again,

gabriel
