I know the answer is somewhere right under my nose, but I haven't found it. And as many of you know, I do not easily comprehend electrical systems.

I have replaced my toasted PMA with a new one (complete HHB kit). The old one (Mike'sXS) had the reg/rec positive and negative wires wired directly to the battery posts with no fuse installed inline. Would it be prudent to install a 20 amp fuse between the positive reg/rec output and the positive battery terminal?? Mike's XS diagram found in their instructions shows a fuse installed (even though one was not installed on my bike) while Hugh's diagram does not show a fuse. One more question... what gauge wire should I be running from the reg/rec to the battery posts? I'm guessing the wires from the original (bad) PMA reg/rec are 14 or 16 gauge. They just look a little "limp" to me! Just taking measures to help assure a reliable and long lived system!

Thanks in advance!!
