Was keeping my eye out for one of those nice little Millrites before I ran across my 645 Index. Of course 2yrs. later ran into a guy that had two that came out of a high school shop. Nice score!
Here's one of the machines I run at work. It's an Okuma lb3000. This one is dual spindle, live tool. If you look 2 od the ID holders are double stacked, one of the boring bars only has .006" clearance while the other makes its cut. Makes you nervous on the first run.
Finally got to do some work on the 2 wheeler today. A long time ago I started making a copy of Mikes XS oil filter. A fair bit of lathe work and used the mill with rotary table as well.
Got the bike ready for its first start in a long time only to find the fuel link between the GPZ 500 carbs was leaking.
Start-up will have to wait until next week if I can track down some O rings.

Turns out my drill the rotor, then turn it down experiment didn't work so well. Got it on the back of madness and it results in um, interesting pedal feel, LOL she pulses like a morning after headache. Got another donor disk on the way, think I will try some different techniques on this one, probably, turn it down THEN drill holes. . Once I have something that works I'll attack this one again, maybe i can rig up a grinding jig and get it flat....
Using expensive machines and lots of time to turn old rusty parts into absolutely useless scrap.
Powered it off my buffer VFD, Spindle was quiet till I got the belt tight... just getting a light almost occasional ticking How tight is best??? Haven't opened and lubed the spindle bearings yet.
Funny I just stuck the existing power cord into the VFD, the contactors in the motor starter weren't all that happy about a soft start, LOL, It's a journey.
Bonus; chuck runs true, plenty of power for first hole.
A friend of mine has been making a set of triple clamps to convert a Suzuki RGV front end to a Kawasaki KR1 for a new race bike. This is a photo of the top clamp. Will post photos when the to and bottom are finished.

Not quite on the scale of Our Hero (gggGary) but plenty good enough for me. Grizzly G0704. Found it on Craigslist. Mill, stand and about $500 worth of tooling and vises (according to prices on the Grizzly website) for $1200.
Don't think it has half a dozen hours on it. Story is the feller's Dad bought it thinking to mill his own AR15 lowers, did one and never touched it again.
I suspect I know why: He had even less of a clue about what he was doing than I do. Looks to me like he uncrated the mill, flopped it up on a bench and went to work. Cosmoline everywhere, only two bolts holding the mill down, random hardware holding the vise to the table and the one end mill that's been used is plugged solid full of aluminum.
Spent all day yesterday fetching it, clearing out a space in my sho...uhhhh...basement to set it up, recruiting help to lug that HEAVY sumbitch down there, cleaning and inspecting. Might actually make some chips today.

The Badger Steam and gas swap meet was last weekend, a very good thing that I was riding Madness. Smart shoppers pulled a garden wagon. Man cave heaven.
I actually have a set like the one pictured for my drill press and cheap chinese table but the mill uses smaller slots. I think my first project will be to make some t-nuts.
Yeah, I was STOKED when he pulled out the collets and mills. I'd have given him the $1200 for the bare mill, all the tooling was just icing on the cake. The mill new plus shipping is close to $1600.
I do see a rotary table and a better vise in my future tho.

The balls/sleeves I assume for the mike anvils? Where would you want to use these?
The punch looking thingie with the knurled section it separates and has a spring inside. the tip is hollow a leather, gasket, punch???

The millrite is still in the shed, lots of projects before the move to the garage happens.
What a hacker; the spindle pulley on the zero turn mower was loose (for a while, didn't know till it fell apart) the shaft was heavily worn. found a new pulley, shaft unavailable so i welded it up and turned it down, rather crude but it's back in service. Whole deal was a bit fubar, the shaft and bearings were 25mm (0.984") the (factory) pulley 1" so once the shaft was turned down to get the bearings on over to the left end, the pulley was a loose fit. Used some steel shim cut from a paint can. turned a retainer that locks the pulley in with an end bolt. all good now.
