Maybe I'm really confused here, or maybe I have an oddball transitional engine, or maybe both.
If I am reading this thread correctly, from 1970 to 1975 the left side case cover should have the square corner. Is that correct?
So, here is a 1975 engine that I have with a case with a rounded corner. Shouldn't it be square?
And here is the VIN on the case, verifying that it really is a 1975. Any thoughts/explanations?

Correction from my earlier posts............seems 75 was the year the engine and side-cover changed to the round corner.
I was going off part no's and from what i thought i knew........
