Lowering question

I wonder if I could cut the stock front fender down and just use it for a fork brace? Anyone done that before? My fender was toast, but I could cut it down and paint it black, I guess.
 
For the budget minded; you can find old motocross braces and carefully massage them to fit.
Not sure just how much stiffer it would be.

Don't see why not. better and cheaper than none at all.

Here is a pic of a fork brace made out of an earlier 74-76 front guard. Stylish and practical, although i would have left in the actual guard mount for extra bracing
