I bought one brand new in '81 I thought it was a GREAT bike...i rode it for about 4 years and sold it...zero issues,always started and ran great !

I'm resurrecting an old thread here but any updates on the Maxim 650 Project? I'm looking at buying one and bobbing it but I'm not sure!

Hey guys I just got a new to me 650, yay me! Question the title says 1980 xs650, thing is it has 4 pipes and the drive shaft, I can't find an xs650 bike with four pipes? So it possibly a xj? The vin is one of the of short ones it starts with 4H7-...... which from what I can find also defines it as an xj maxim, anyone know how to unravel the mystery?? Thanks in advance for any help..

Check your VIN number on the title to the VIN number on the frame. Let us know what happens with that.

Well, it's not an XS650 engine, and that's not an XS650 frame. I've had bad spelling on titles before, I don't know how it happens.

That's what I figured, I'm having it corrected as I suspect the guy I got it from was having a hard time buying parts for the wrong bike and probably got frustrated to the point of selling, at least the next guy will have a better time, thanks for the input!!!!
