Moabiker's Tall Tales

Hahaha. I had an '88 Suzuki Samurai. Hard top, stock, not jacked up. They used to say they were too easy to tip. I pushed mine really hard (on the streets), and never even close to losing it. And with that tiny little engine, the only way to wring any performance out of it (rubber in 3 gears!) was to wind it up really high. If it had a redline, I never found it... It was a neat little truck (full length chassis, engine in the right direction, tiny shaft to the transfer case, shafts fore and aft to front and rear differentials), but if anybody were to T-bone it - death trap. :yikes: And here in the snow belt, it was an unstoppable weapon (under 40 MPH)!

Uh oh....... Is it serious?
Here, in upstate NY, they use salt on the roads in winter, so car/truck bodies/frames only last 10-15 years, or so. All the local bone yards are full of carcasses (carci?) with motors in them with a lot of miles left on them. Dime-a-dozen... well, not quite...
What are your chances of finding a used motor?

...found a crank and bearings for $325, gasket kit for $45, and front and rear oil seals for $30.
...i think that the only damage so far my old worn out eagle-eyes see so far...need to pull rest of crank off tomorrow...
...looking for a replacement motor in moab as preferable way to fix, sure there one here somewhere...

Good for you! If that's the only damage, you'll be able to get out of it "relatively" cheap! Good luck, and keep "us" posted (I'm nosy :wink2:), even if it's not an Xs650. Come to think of it, the Samauri didn't have much more horsepower than an Xs650....
