Oh, you'll see it when it gets done.... eventually.....

Things might slow down to a snails pace in molasses in winter at the end of the year. I made a goal to finish the '68 Mustang build before Thanksgiving, as my wife is pregnant again. WITH TWINS!

Needless to say, free time will be quite limited and filled with sleep and daddy work. Hopefully once I get this Mustang to its new home I'll be able to dedicate more of my limited free time to getting a bike back up and running

Exhaust port optimizers from a forum member, this will allow me to run some pipes I have that I really didn't want to get rid of and sell the 2-1 that's on there.

    Running total - $625.77

Unfortunately no, my free time for the past 6+ months has been consumed with getting this '68 Mustang out of my garage. I did hit a milestone and got the engine fired up on Sunday though, so I'm REALLY shooting to have it mostly complete within a month. Then maybe I can find some motorcycle time among the other projects I've on my plate.

On and lets not forget the TWINS that are coming in December/January! Free time will dip down to near nothingness then :(

Hey guys, would like to sell the exhaust that's on there - 2-1 w/ muffler. Chrome isn't perfect, there's some minor pitting throughout, but it's shiny.

Was looking for $150, any takes or thoughts for it? I'll cover shipping in the lower 48.

Well, the MUSTANG IS GONE!!! I can't tell y'all how good it feels to have the garage back. NEVER again will I do something like that for anyone but myself or family...

Here's to hoping I can make some progress on this bike soon!!!

So I've a question for the group: Lets say I get the bike running the way I want it to (reliable, decent handling, better braking, etc.). Anyone have a clue what it would be worth? $1K, $2K??

The good news is things are always bigger in Texas. :geek:

    Haha! Wouldn't that be nice!

I'm hoping I could get $2k out of it. Figure I can ride it, work the kinks out and wait for a rider to offer me what I need and (hopefully) get another bike running if/when I sell it

Now does anyone have a way to generate more time in a day w/ 3 kiddos?

Someone once told me to use Benadryl.

    Not for you, the kids...

LiveSlowDieWhenever probably broke down. Just call me greasy.

Sounds like you got 3 good flashlight holders!

Just scored a set of new Hi-Vo manifolds, and wondering if they'll work with EX500 carbs or "only" VM34's?

Edit: another member just confirmed they will not fit. Thank you @Signal

I'm in the process of cleaning out my garage some more to accept this bike next to my other project. I've a potential local buyer for the bike, but it needs to be running and "complete" otherwise no deal. Wife is fighting me for this saying "you need him to pay you to build that bike!" and I'm saying that won't happen... Regardless, I need to pull it out of the mausoleum, throw it on my motorcycle jack and try to make some progress.

Mostly for my own future recollection, a list of things to perform/check:
    • Rebuild TX swingarm and install
    • Wheel & neck bearings
    • Rebuild forks (emulators or mintons?)
    • Replace wiring harness & bar switches
    • Address charging system (banshee swap?)
    • Check compression
    • Rebuild EX carbs & modify airbox (XSjohn mod)
    • Inspect/replace chain/sprockets
    • Figure out how to install cafe seat
    • Drain oil, cut open filter and inspect bottom end (as best as possible)
    • Install pipes w/ torque optimizers
    • Rebuild/replace brake components
    • Remove existing oil cooler
    • Hydraulic clutch
    • Check top end torque
    • Remove any questionable rust and hit spots w/ rust conversion paint

Any other "must do's" that I'm forgetting??

Things to pass TX State Inspection?

Inspection is so easy (lights, horn, tires), so that will come after its alive :-D

Using the stock harness and hand controls should make it "easy" to get everything wired up and going. Now, my flashlight holders aren't too good, so anyone else have a way to generate excess time in ONLY my garage? :-D

When I was about 12 I had to look after my little brother who could crawl but not walk. One day I needed to play with my toys outside so I tied his foot to the sofa so he could not get into trouble while I played. You could give this a try to get some garage time?

Well that would only work if I could tie a flashlight to their head as well so they could shine the light for me :laugh:
