Mysterious frame stamping?

So I took my frame down to the Blast it shop... (awesome place with glass, sand and walnut to blast with)... and after an hour my frame was done.. but then I noticed this odd stamping on the top tube near the steering head... anyone else seen this?

I recall seeing something like that on My wife's that's off for paint now. Can't remember the number though.

I just found a "2" on mine.

mine says 3 27. it faces the other way though.
thought maybe it was the date of the frame being finished, but i dont know what to make of your x19

no but really maybe the number of the guy who inspects the frames.
just like that little "inspected by #3 paper" in a new pair of pants

My 82 frame has either a U or the top half of an H. The 81 and 75 you can't see a marking without taking the tanks off.
probably an inspector's mark.

mines a 80.here it is. I tried to light it up sideways so the camera would catch it, but apperently, led flashlightes are alot brighteron camera than in real life.

Just went and looked at my 80 and it has 9 26 stamped in it.

HUMmmmmmmm, inquiring minds want to know.
